Tracks and more...

Papa bear, mama bear, baby bear...who knows?  Here in FL the black bears are out and about.  Due to the warmer temps they DO NOT hibernate like the colder weather bears.  If a sow is to have cubs (about every 2 yrs.), she may lay down for a couple weeks to a month prior to giving birth.  My shoe beside one of the bear track gives one an idea of the size and indentions in the sand gives an estimated weight of 100-400 lbs.

There were Armadillo, bobcat, and lots of deer tracks.  Sometimes it was hard to make some track distinctions due to hunters dogs.

The above right pile of fresh bear scat was evidence in the middle of the hard packed sandy road that someone was out and about.

The tortoise shell to the left was at a visitor's center near Palatka.

I guess after seeing the above tracks...it is wise to adhear to his last picture...
