Williamsburg 2011...Christmas Eve...Christmas Day...

After our 3 day stay with our FL friends, we moved into our own timeshare for another week of Colonial Williamsburg with all it's Christmas cheer.  Our timeshare is very quaint and homely with a great fireplace and hot tub.  Laundry was a hoot as the dryer door kept opening after about a minute of run time.  J finally rigged the door closed with the broom so i could dry my clothes in less than a week.  LOL

The Historic Powhatan Resort - Williamsburg, VA
Manor House at The Historic Powhatan Resort
The Historic Powhatan Resort timeshare rentals and condos are highlighted by the restored furnished Manor House of 1735 listed in the National Register of Historical Places. It rests on 256-acres two miles from Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia. From here one can visit the Jamestown Settlement, Busch Gardens, Yorktown Battlefield, and Water Country USA. Pansies of all colors adorned the property along with the multitude of white holiday lights.

There were several modes of travel in Colonial Williamsburg besides the nice bus rides with various stops to save the legs.

The cabinet shop there not only makes antique replicas of furniture...they also make replicas of the harpsicord that I so enjoy playing.

We attended the firing of the Christmas guns in the area of Palace Green and the Magazine.  In the 18th century, Virginians fired guns to salute the Christmas season and as an expression of celebration.  The cannons firing on the left below and muskets on the right.

There was a lighting of the yule logs in front of the Courthouse with a reading of The Night Before Christmas, the story of the city's first Christmas tree and lighting of tree along with caroling.

Christmas Day was one of relaxation and cooking...Sour cream apple pie and chunky chocolate chip cookies.  YUM!  YUM!
